new to the store for May 2010

Catching up with more of the SF Bay Area crew...
* Just So You Know #2 by Joey Sayers. There are a few moments in this one that are a little sad. But it turned out happy!
* The Natural World #3 by Damien Jay. Visually wild and it's getting kind of scary now-- the witch hunt seems to be on.
* Salad Days by Minty Lewis. Minty returns to the field she pioneered in PS Comics: anthropomorphic fruit having problems. Except this time there's a gorilla, and a little hope.
* Black Tea #3 by Jason Martin. More slices of life from a quiet guy who likes being alive.

new to the store for April 2010

OK, time to catch up now and there's a whole lot of stuff, so it won't all fit on the front page. And there's more on the way soon. Books books books.

* Ten Thousand Things to Do, the book, by Jesse Reklaw. Collects issues 1-6 of the mini plus a little bit more. My, it's handsome.
* Neely Covers Comics to Give You the Creeps!, hereafter known as Neely... Creeps!, by Tom Neely. Collection of those horror cover remakes you may have seen here and there. Brrrrrrrr.
* Ariadne auf Naxos #1-2 by Julia Gfrörer. "New" in the sense of "Why didn't we have this before?" Puts the Rude in Erudite, and has the best running gag about Doctor Who ever.
* Kitchen Conniption by Vanessa Davis. It's Vanessa's cookbook and it's yummy.
* Barbarian Comic by Alixopulos. Short and sweet. It's about barbarians.
* Postdoc by Hob. Like the cover says: "drawings of TV doctors dressed for other jobs."
* Lucky House and Eternity by Eliza Frye. Very atmospheric very short stories showcasing Eliza's striking art and design.
* The Ratnest #1-2 by Patrick Keck. Cryptic, visually lush and rather disturbing.
* Clutch #19 by Clutch McBastard. More diary madness. 2003 was apparently a pretty good year, 2004 not so much.
* Stun Nuts #6 by Chris Cilla. There's a ghost, a breast, some big noses and lots of food.

* Stay Away from Other People by Lisa Hanawalt. Sketchbooky comic or vice versa, memorably drawn from a very curious imagination.
* Ten Thousand Things to Do #5-6 by Jesse Reklaw. The diary comes to a close, with no shortage of events.
* Water Column #2 by Josh Frankel. The sea creatures are bigger now.

* Estrus #7 and #1 by MariNaomi. Some of her older comics reprinted to disturb and educate you.
* Laterborn #7 by Jason Martin. Kind of like rambling peacefully with an old friend by a campfire.

* Rumbling chapter 2 by Kevin Huizenga. Kevin's Or Else stopped being published, right after he started serializing this startling adaptation. Now he continues it as a minicomic, gloriously.
* The Life and Times of "Baby" Otto Zeplin #4 by BT Livermore. Grant's ghost is taking over.
* Laugh-a-Graphs by Chris Cilla. Chris is busy making paintings, so here's another tiny cartoon morsel.
* Brilliantly Ham-Fisted by Tom Neely. Non-literal, morbid, precise. Expanded version.
* Ten Thousand Things to Do #2-3 by Jesse Reklaw. More cats and anxiety, plus now he's in a band.
* Buzz #2 by Corinne Mucha. Short humor pieces by the Roz Chast of minicomics.

* Just So You Know #1 by Joey Sayers. Joey's transgender memoir is, of course, constructed out of jokes.
* The Lady's Murder by Eliza Frye. The webcomic is up for an Eisner; the print version is niftier.
* Stun Nuts #4 by Chris Cilla. It's Cilla goofing around, it's rude, there are bees.

Ten Thousand Things now with more things

An unusual update: The ridiculously productive Jesse Reklaw, while working on issue 2 of his diary comic Ten Thousand Things to Do, decided that each issue should be 64 pages long instead of 40. So when he reprinted issue 1, he added 24 new pages (and a new cover, which actually includes the title of the comic now, just to confuse people). The cover price is still $4, and the smaller first edition is now gone.

This means that if you have one of the old ones, and you get issue 2--to be released any day now--you'll be missing 24 days of Reklaw's life (and yes, he does have a life after the book tour). It's possible that Jesse will make the extra stuff available in some kind of ashcan format; you'll know the details as soon as we do. He's also been putting the strip on the Internet, if you like computers.

new to the store for November 2008

* Monday #3 by Andy Hartzell. Finally!
* The Factoids of Life #1 by Kevin Huizenga, Dan Zettwoch, and Ted May. Minicomic collection of Amazing Facts... and Beyond!, which is now on our short list of most fun newspaper strips ever.
* Quite Mad and Other Works, Lake, Sing, Enough, Outside, Buried Veins, and Talk to a Live Nude Girl by Molly Barker. Molly is better known in the book-arts world than in comics and hasn't drawn much for a while, so we were very happy to get some of these rare gems.
* New Construction #2 by Kevin Huizenga. All-thumbnail-sketches issue, with some from Dan Zettwoch and Ted May too. For devoted fans & others who are curious about how things are made.
* My Alaskan Summer and Shithole by Corinne Mucha. Missed these the first time around. Hilarious.
* Ten Thousand Things to Do #1 by Jesse Reklaw. Why another diary comic? Because Jesse is really good at quick sketches and epistolary writing.
* Manhole #3 and Washing Machine by Mardou. Mardou's storytelling keeps getting more ambitious; these slice-of-life comics are a great introduction.
* Salivating Box and Friends by Jesse Reklaw, Andrice Arp, Nate Beaty, and Levon Jihanian. The return of five-minute comics!
